I removed both dront and rear driveshafts today. I also pulled the brake master cylinder and unhooked the clutch linkage. As you can tell, work is slowing down.

I need to remove the Ramsey Winch PTO unit before I can pull the case, transmission, and engine. The catch is...I havent got the faintest idea how to take out the U joint out of the driveshaft that runs from the PTO to the winch right at the PTO. I cant see any sort of clip or cap to remove, and I'm beginning to consider taking a Sawzall and cutting through the U joint. I dont really care to do that, though, because I'd risk damaging the ears on the driveshafts and I still wouldnt know how to put the new joints in...assuming I can even get new joints. Any ideas out there?

The tag on the PTO unit says it's made by Ramsey Winch Co., and it's model PTl-T. I'm not sure if it's model PTl (Lowercase L)- T, or PT1-T.

Anyway...

Yushyness

HI, On your drive line , look real close inside the yoke there is a snap ring on each cup. Some times it's hard to get them off, clean them up so you can see and then a narrow chisel and a hammer is used to tap the snap ring off. just get it so you can hit the end of it{snap ring}Some guys use an old screw driver but it is not safe to use a screw driver for anything except to turn a screw, they are usally very brittle and tend to put out peoples eyes. I just restored a 48 and it's a lot of fun, and the same age as I am. I copied the one in the Bestop catalog except for the chrome bumper. I started driving a cj2 when I was 10 yrs old on a ranch here in Wyoming. good luck!
